France and the Russian Federation have identified ways to resolve the champagne problem

The Ministries of Agriculture of France and Russia have agreed on ways to solve the problem of champagne, said Agriculture Minister of France Julien Denormandy.

In a statement posted on his Twitter page, he said that during the meeting of agriculture ministers of the G20 countries, talks were held with Sergei Levin, deputy minister of agriculture of the Russian Federation.

"We reached an agreement on the methods of work that will be used to clarify the application of the law on wine products adopted in the Russian Federation and thus resolve the situation in which the French champagne sector finds itself," Denormandy said.

France Info radio reported that the sides shall set up a special working group, TASS reported.

According to the media, on September 11 the Inter-Professional Committee of the Champagne Wine Industry has reversed its recommendation to suspend exports of sparkling wine to the Russian Federation. Then Co-Chairman of the Committee Jean-Marie Barriere called the abolition of the ban a "calming measure", which complements the reluctance of the Committee to apply to the World Trade Organization.

Let us remind that in July the President of the Russian Federation signed a law that determines the peculiarities of production and turnover of wine products in the country.
