The Russian government has approved an increase in fishing levy rates

The government's lawmaking commission has supported the proposal of the Russian Agriculture Ministry to increase the rates of levies for the use of aquatic bioresources. Vedomosti" reports about it.

The Ministry submitted draft amendments to the Tax Code. For example, fishermen will pay 4.3 thousand rubles per ton for pollock fishing in the Sea of Okhotsk instead of 3.5 thousand, the fee for humpback salmon will be more than doubled - to 7.9 thousand rubles from 3.5 thousand. The fee for the king crab will also more than double - from Br35 thousand to Br80 thousand per ton.

It is specified that the rate will be changed annually, for this purpose it will be multiplied by the deflator coefficient, which is set by the government of Russia for the indexation of various mandatory payments to the budget. Rosrybolovstvo explains that the rates have not been reviewed since 2008, since then selling and retail prices have changed significantly, and taxes from fish production remain at the same level. In addition, they say, the amendments will stimulate an increase in the production of fish products of high degree of processing and provide raw materials coastal plants.

The change of collection rates will allow to increase budget revenues from the annual fee for the use of aquatic biological resources almost 10-fold - from 2.2 billion to 21 billion rubles, the document says. According to the estimates of the All-Russian Association of Fishery Enterprises, Entrepreneurs and Exporters (ARFA), with the introduction of the bill, total taxes from the fishing industry will increase by 20% to 89 billion rubles.
