Buckwheat is produced in Russia in sufficient volume, there will be no shortage of groats, the country's Agriculture Ministry has said.

Earlier it was reported that the cost of buckwheat in Russia this summer reached a maximum for the last ten years. In August this year 1 kilogram of buckwheat cost 102.5 rubles on the average in stores.

Commenting on the announcement of a price rise, the agency noted that on September 15 manufacturers' prices for buckwheat have shown zero for a week and decreased by 0.9% for a month. The cost of buckwheat for the week decreased by 0.9%.

The agency noticed that in 2021 the cultivated areas of buckwheat are increased by 12%, almost to 976 thousand hectares. Last year, the volume of harvested buckwheat increased by 13.4% compared to 2019. At the same time, as of September 16, Russia had harvested about 30% of the crop.
