The growth of encryption virus attacks on domestic corporations was recorded in the first half of this year,Primenews agency reported with reference toKommersant.

According to the media, the number of such incidents increased last year, but the trend has intensified this year. From January to July encryption viruses attacked 9.2 thousand corporate users in Russia and almost 11 thousand in CIS. The number of such attacks on domestic companies more than tripled in 2021, or more than 200%.

An encryption virus encrypts valuable files and demands a ransom for decryption. In some cases this ransom can reach 30 million roubles, and the operation of the affected organisation can be stopped for 18 days.
