Head of the Ministry of Economic Development: "green" projects should not provoke price growth

"Green" projects should not cause an additional rise in commodity prices amid rising global inflation. This was stated by Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov.

"The most important point that we are concerned with such a rigid system of carbon regulation is the price of the issue: who and how will pay for it, how much it will cost. It is no secret, including at the international level, that the theme of reducing emissions and achieving carbon neutrality is now extremely popular. But at the same time, very few people are actually discussing what this would cost and which consumer would pay for this. In the end, it is the consumer who pays for everything," he said at a meeting with the Sakhalin Oblast Government.

He underlined that it is necessary to calculate all options and to consider their budgetary consequences.

Earlier Reshetnikov also has informed that the system of standards which will allow to realize carbon projects, is formed practically for today.

Let us remind, that since 2023, the European Union introduces a carbon tax on imported products with large emissions of greenhouse gases. According to experts, it may affect about 40% of Russian exports.
