The government will inspect businesses that recycle garbage

Unscheduled inspections are expected for Russian waste recycling companies. According to Izvestia, Deputy Prime Minister Viktoria Abramchenko has given such an order to Rosprirodnadzor.

According to the document, as cited in the publication, monitoring activities will take place from October 1, 2021 to November 1, 2022. They will affect organizations, which disposed of waste (goods and packaging) of manufacturers and importers in 2020.

The inspection will determine whether the business has complied with mandatory recycling regulations. Depending on the industry, these amount to 10-45% of the products released into circulation.

In case of detection of violations, the companies face penalties, the amount of which will be determined later.

As a reminder, to date there are about 300 recycling centers at federal level in Russia. At the moment it is known that in August this year Rosprirodnadzor found twofold discrepancy in reporting on the recycling of goods between the acts of Samsung and the documents of recycling firms. The company has not provided any official comments on this issue.
