Swedish brand H&M is considering launching production in Russia

Swedish retailer H&M (Hennes & Mauritz AB) is considering the possibility of organizing clothes production at Russian factories, reports Interfax, citing the company's CEO in Russia Saed El-Ashkar.

"When selecting suppliers, production capacity and technological capabilities are of key importance, as well as location - convenience in terms of logistical processes. The global team regularly monitors the situation on different markets and looks for the best options to build a production network. The possibility of production in Russia is also under consideration," said the company's spokesman.

He underlined that H&M does not own any factories and places orders in independent factories around the world - from India, Bangladesh and China to Turkey and Portugal.

H&M is Europe's largest apparel retailer, headquartered in Stockholm and New York. Subsidiaries operate in 71 countries with 4,968 stores as of November 2018.
