The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation has approved the third phase of clinical trials of Pfizer pneumonia prevention vaccine. The drug is based on 20 serotypes of pneumococcus.

Safety and immunogenicity of the drug will be studied in 60 infants, reports "Pharmaceutical Herald".

The vaccine will be administered to healthy infants as follows: a series of two infant doses and one dose intended for infants. The vaccine is a suspension to be given intramuscularly.

Children will be vaccinated in three hospitals in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Perm. The final assessment will be done by the end of 2023.
