Russian authorities have approved a new national plan for the development of competition

The Russian government has drawn up a new national plan to promote competition in view of the increased demand for digitalization and e-commerce amid the pandemic, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said.

"The pandemic has brought about many challenges, affected many economic processes, and the interest of our citizens and businesses in digitalization and e-commerce has increased," he said during a cabinet meeting.

Mishustin added that these and other changes were taken into account when drafting the new national plan for development of competition. It was approved in early September and is designed for five years.

The previous plan expired in 2020. It halved the number of antitrust law violations by the authorities, increased purchases from small and medium-sized businesses within state orders and created a competitive environment in almost all sectors of the economy, Mishustin noted.
