"Shvabe sent a device to a Greek hospital to treat jaundice in infants

Shvabe Holding has supplied a medical facility in Greece with the BiliFlex fiberoptic system for phototherapy. The device is designed to treat jaundice in infants, Rostec said.

The company specified that it was a pilot delivery so that local doctors could familiarize themselves with the equipment.

"We continue to increase the volume of medical equipment exports, including strengthening cooperation with Greece. Previously, we supplied neonatal irradiators to that country, also designed to treat jaundice in infants," said Anatoly Sludnykh, General Director of the Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant (the company is developing the device).

He explained that the new product has extended functionality and helps in complex recovery of newborns.

Thus, the domestically produced device reduces effectively and within a short period of time the bilirubin level of the infants. Moreover, during the procedure, the child can be held in the arms. Besides, one may use BiliFlex together with an incubator or a heater.
