Russia's agricultural exports to Brazil more than doubled this year

Russia increased exports of agricultural products to Brazil 2.2 times in the first nine months of this year, to $74.1 million, compared to the same period last year. This was reported by the Russian trade mission in Brazil with reference to the data of ComexStat statistical portal.

In quantitative terms, shipments to this country have increased by more than 40% - from 129 thousand tons to 184.1 thousand tons.

The trade mission reported that from January to September the main growth drivers of domestic exports to Brazil were the products of flour-and-cereals industry and foodstuffs. For example, supplies of unroasted malt increased by about six times in quantitative terms (from 26 tons up to 150.3 thousand tons), supplies of wheat gluten increased 3.5 times (from 213 tons up to 735.1 tons).

"In the first nine months of this year, Russia exported 151.5 thousand tons of flour and cereal industry products worth $62.5 million and was in the top three, behind only traditional Brazilian partners - Argentina, which supplied 557.8 thousand tons worth $243.4 million and Uruguay (213.4 thousand tons worth $117.8 million)," the report said.

The Trade Representation explained the growth of supply of malt not roasted by the zero import duty, which is valid until the end of the year, for countries that are not members of the Latin American bloc. Normally, this duty is 14%. As on September 24 this year, the quota is almost used up - 595.73 thousand tons out of the available 600 thousand tons.
