Gazprom discussed gas supply to the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and Eni

The Russian company Gazprom discussed the possible supply of gas to the Italian market with the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and Eni, said the report of Gazprom, released on the meeting of the head of the company, Alexey Miller and Minister of Economic Development of Italy, Federica Guidi and General Manager of Eni, Claudio Descalzi.

Each side considered the progress and prospects of developing a bilateral partnership in the gas and oil field. It was noted, that the demand on Russian gas on the European market is rising with some stability. Perspectives of increasing the supply of fuel is due to the decrease of domestic extraction in Europe. In connection with this, the question of exporting Russian gas to Italy is considered.

During the meeting with Eni, participants discussed long-term actions towards increasing sales of Russian gas on the Italian market.

Eni S.p.A. is a global energy company, represented in the oil and gas sectors, the production and sale of electricity, petrochemicals, engineering service and maintenance of oil fields. Eni is the main partner of Gazprom on the Blue Streem gas pipeline.

Italy is the third (second in the EU) in the consuption of Russian gas, after Germany and Turkey. In 2015, Gazprom's supply to Italy amounted to 24.4 billion cubic meters, 12.6% more than in 2014.
