Russia and China have simplified transit vehicle traffic through Kazakhstan, wrote the Xinhua information agency.

This was a significant step towards the creation of an international transport corridor between China and Europe in the framework of the initiative "economic belt of the Silk Road" and "Maritime Silk Road of the 21st century," says the agency, stressing that an agreement on the transit road transport of goods through Kazakhstan was signed in Beijing at the end of 2015 "as a result of multiple consultations", cites IA Regnum.

The agreement led to a simplification of the procedure of customs checkpoints: the way to Russia for Chinese transportation vehicles can take a couple days now, instead of a week.

"Russia is one of the most important trade partners of Xinjiang. However, due to the lack of direct trade traffic, trade turnover between the two countries is reached only via transit through Kazakhstan or Mongolia. According to Chinese experts, this is the chief hindrance to the significant growth of trade and logistics turnover between Xinjiang and Russia, especially between their bordering regions," reported the official agency of the PRC.
