The online booking service Yandex.Taxi now reaches beyond the borders of Russia. Now the service is available in Minsk, says the Kommersant in contact with the head of service Tigran Khudaverdyan.

The head of Yandex.Taxi promised that Minsk will be only the first non-Russian city within the launched service expansion in the CIS countries:

"We decided to expand to the CIS. Minsk is one of the most populated cities in the CIS after Moscow and St. Petersburg," he commented on the company's decision in a conversation with the Kommersant.

Distribution of orders for Yandex.Taxi in the Belarusian capital was entrusted to the taxi service Stolitsa 135. Among the carriers connected to the service are more than 150 entrepreneurs and dozens of legal entities. Each participant has an official license and taximeter, the company said.

The minimum cost of a ride within Minsk will be 40 thousand Belarusian rubles (140 Russian rubles at the rate of 25 of February), this amount includes the first 3 km of the ride. Every kilometer in excess of the tariff will cost the customer 5900 rubles (20.65 Russian rubles at the same rate).

There will be no commission for riding through Minsk forthe first phase of the service. Khudaverdyan notes that it is planned to be introduced a few months later, when the demand for taxi services in the city has grown.

Yandex.Taxi was launched in 2011 and now works in 15 Russian cities, among which are Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk and Sochi. Since November 2015, Yandex.Taxi’s working competitor, taxi service Uber has been operating in Minsk.
