Sergey Gorkov became the head of state corporation "Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs (Vnesheconombank).” The decision on the appointment of a new head of the VEB was signed by President Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin press service stated.

Vladimir Dmitriev was released from his position at Vnesheconombank at a direct order from Vladimir Putin.

Sergey Gorkov previously worked as deputy chairman of the board of Sberbank, where he supervised the work of the international operations unit.

Since 2004, Vnesheconombank was headed by Vladimir Dmitriev.

The Minister of Economic Development, Alexey Ulyukayev earlier claimed that in the VEB will require 150-200 billion rubles of support. Last week, a senior federal official said that the support could still amount to less than 150 billion rubles. The issue of the financial restructuring of VEB will be reviewed at the end of February or early March, stated the head of the Ministry of Finance Anton Siluanov.
