Authorities allocate another ₽1.6bn to establish grape breeding center in Crimea

The Russian government has allocated another 1.6 billion roubles for the creation of a grape breeding centre in Crimea.

Additional funds were needed due to the difficulty of work because of mountainous terrain and difficult soils. In addition, the project has increased the length of the engineering networks that will supply the building with water, gas and electricity, the Cabinet of Ministers explained.

The new unit with the area of more than 18 thousand square meters is being built on the basis of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking "Magarach" - one of the oldest research centers of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It will include research laboratories, center of experimental biotechnology, special space for growing seedlings, lecture and tasting rooms, a wine cellar and enoteca.

It is planned to open the center in 2025.
