Export of winter sports equipment from Moscow has almost doubled

Moscow suppliers of winter sports equipment in the first nine months of the year increased exports by almost 80%, to 1.4 million dollars, compared with the same period last year.

According to Alexander Prokhorov, head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy of Moscow, in the first nine months of this year, Russia-wide exports of such goods amounted to about $4.1 million.

"At the same time, Moscow's share in the country's sales was 34.2%. The city was ahead of Kaluga and Yaroslavl regions in terms of exports. Moscow suppliers exported a total of $1.39 million," he said.

The main buyers of winter sports equipment this year are Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia. In addition, the capital has delivered sports equipment to France for almost 40 thousand dollars and $38 thousand dollars - to Serbia. This year supplies to Italy have increased 18 times.

Moscow ice skates ($726 thousand), cross-country skis ($88 thousand), ski poles ($44 thousand), ski boots (over $217 thousand) and suits ($12.5 thousand) are especially popular with foreign buyers.
