Russia is catching up and overtaking many developed countries in the sphere of new technologies and digitalization, said Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.

According to him, the development of the IT-sphere is a technological necessity for the transition to a new economy.

"The pandemic has really spurred digitalization and this transition. Russia has a very high position in this area, so we are jumping over several steps, catching up and overtaking the leading countries. This import substitution will occur rapidly not only for infrastructure, which is very important for the security of our country, but also for software, in which we are from 60% to 100% also ready to import substitution in all areas of the spectrum - both industrial and consumer," - RIA "Novosti" quotes him.

Chernyshenko also said that the program of state support was developed based on the needs of the industry participants. The measures provide a tremendous boost to the digital industry, he stressed.
