Media: attendance in shopping malls on New Year's Eve this year is below pre-panemic levels

The number of shoppers in shopping malls before the New Year is 4.5% higher compared to last year, but still a quarter lower than it was in the pre-demic period, says Kommersant.

As evidenced by the Mall Index, which reflects the number of visitors per 1 thousand "squares" of retail space, in the pre-New Year period in the Russian capital was 4.5% higher than at the same time in 2020 and 24.3% less than in 2019.

Consumers preferred online shopping due to fear of covid restrictions. Because of this, shopping center traffic is still unable to recover to pre-crisis levels, according to Mikhail Vasilyev, head of research and consulting at Focus.
