The designers of the Scientific-Technical Center "Kamaz" have developed a new model of electric bus, the production of which will start in 2022, the press service of the company said.

The new electric bus model will be equipped with improved batteries with a higher capacity, which will increase the autonomous travel of the electric bus from 50 to 80 kilometers.

"The transition from the diesel heater only to the electric part is in line with the global trend of improving the environmental friendliness of transport, and we are also moving in this direction. In addition, we are switching to the climate system of one of the international leaders Thermo King," said Samat Sattarov, director of passenger transport at Kamaz.

Also in the new model the acoustic noise in the driver's area will be reduced due to the change of the steering booster system. The vehicles will comply with international safety standards, which will allow the electric buses to be sold in foreign markets in the future.

"During three months of testing in Kazan our electric bus covered more than 14 thousand kilometers and carried about 38 thousand passengers. We hope that the test operation in the future will be transformed into a promising contract for the supply of electric buses for the capital of our republic," Sattarov said, adding that now the leadership of Tatarstan and representatives of Kamaz are working on the financing of this contract.

"We also had a number of meetings with the leadership of Bashkortostan. In addition to Ufa, Perm, Voronezh and Cherepovets are active, so we will plan further test operations in these regions," he concluded.
