Seven new centers of collective use (CCU) and laboratories for accelerated breeding of wheat and other cereal grains will be created in Russia by 2023, said Elena Khlestkina, director of the All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources.

She recalled that last year the Laboratory of Genetic Editing and Genomic Selection of Bread Cereals was created on the basis of the Institute, writes TASS. Six more facilities will open by 2023, including the SpeedBreed CDC, a plant phenomics laboratory, a quantitative genetics and genomic breeding laboratory, and a CDC to produce dihaploid lines, Khlestkina specified.

"All centers will have different profiles, will solve different problems, complementing each other in the complex development of new breeding programs," she specified.
