The number of young entrepreneurs in Russia under 25 years old increased 2.5 times in 2021, with women launching their own business in the online segment more often, the press service of Wildberries told the editorial office "Made in Russia".

Previously, the analytical service of the company conducted a survey among 7.7 thousand entrepreneurs in 82 regions: 81% of the respondents are individual entrepreneurs, 11% - representatives of small companies with fewer than 250 employees, 7% - self-employed and 1% - representatives of large businesses.

"As found by analysts Wildberries, in 2021 the proportion of young entrepreneurs under the age of 25 years increased from 6 to 16%. The majority (50%) of online businesses are between the ages of 26-35. The smallest (1%) share of entrepreneurs is at the age of 55 and older", - told the press service.

One of the main reasons for the influx of young people in the online segment of the company called the active development of IT and digitalization. "In order to become an entrepreneur and sell products now does not require special knowledge, skills and significant investments - for example, the formation of document management and filing tax returns occurs automatically," - explained in the marketplace.

Last year the gender composition of online business representatives also updated: the proportion of women for the first time exceeded men and amounted to 53% against 46% in 2020. Most often - 45% of respondents - sell clothes, shoes and accessories through marketplaces, 30% - products for home and home improvement, 17% - children's products.

At the same time, 47% of respondents who participated in the study said that they have increased their sales from 10 to 100% in 2021, and 15% of sellers have increased their income by two or more times.
