26

Between 2030 and 2035, a Russian scientific base will be created on the Moon. Such a statement was made on Tuesday, April 5, by Sergei Krikalev, Executive Director for Manned Space Programs of Roscosmos State Corporation. According to Krikalev, landing on the Moon is planned until 2030, and construction of the lunar base and station will begin in the next period - until 2035.

The executive director of the state corporation explained that the base will probably be a scientific laboratory. Full settlement on a natural Earth satellite is not planned in the near future, he stressed.

Earlier President of RSC "Energy" Vladimir Solntsev said that the Russian manned expedition will go to the Moon until 2030, the publication "Century". RSC "Energy" believes that Russia should join forces with other leading space powers and in the future to act with them on terms of mutually beneficial equal partnership.

It should be noted that earlier there was information that the Russians plan to visit the Moon. The published space development project provided that Russian cosmonauts will visit the Earth satellite already in 2030. The first ships directed to the satellite will be the Luna-Resource and Luna-Globe reconnaissance probes, the launch of which is scheduled for 2019. In addition, by 2030, Russia will be able to start building an orbital base. Roskosmos has previously requested the government to allocate 2 trillion rubles for this program, which the agency expects to receive by 2025. It is also known about more profitable proposals. The Russian company Lin Industrial, which is a resident of Skolkovo, announced its readiness to create a base on the Moon for less than Roscosmos and the Russian Academy of Sciences. The company assures that the project implementation will cost 550 billion rubles.

The place where the Russian lunar base will be erected in the future is already known. The site was selected by Roscosmos specialists with the help of LEND spacecraft and is located on the edge of the crater.

It should be noted that Russia is actively working towards the development of the Moon. In February 2016 it was announced that a unique drill for the lunar soil was created. Scientists say that it will allow drilling holes up to two meters deep in the surface of the satellite, as well as collecting water and other volatile substances for research.
