The Biennial of Contemporary Art will take place in Cheboksary from October 8 to 30. This is the first event of this kind for the region. The exhibition and the cultural program of educational events, performances, art master classes and author tours around the city will be prepared for visitors, organizers of the biennale told the editorial "Made in Russia".

The theme of the biennale is called "X Stories" and refers to the stories, myths and beliefs that make up cultural and ethnographic history.

"More than 30 Russian and foreign artists will present their works on the themes of cultural code, history of their heritage, national identity in different mediums: video art, photography, installations, sculpture and painting. The main focus of the event will be a new reading and comprehension of traditional arts and crafts in the context of contemporary culture," said the organizers.

Today, the cultural landscape seeks geographical diversity and decentralization, said Deputy Minister of Culture of the Chuvash Republic Georgy Boguslavsky. "We see museums opening their branches in the regions, each city organizes a festival - its calling card, creative settlements appear in villages. However, as a rule, these changes take place either in cities with a population of millions or in small rural settlements. At the same time, cities with a thousand inhabitants are just beginning to accumulate their own large-scale projects, and our republic is at the very beginning of this creative path," he said.

The representative of the Ministry pointed out the importance of creating a new space for dialogue between creative representatives of different geo-cultural spaces.
