Nikolo-Bachmetievsky factory

The Russian standard of quality in crystal production

The Nikolo-Bachmetievsky factory was founded in 1763 and became the first national producer of high-quality crystal and glass.

The plant, which carried out orders of higher noble families and the Russian Orthodox Church, was the main competitor of the Imperial Glass Factory.

The craft of glassblowing is passed down from generation to generation. Bachmetiev is on par with European brands in terms of quality and sophistication of production. The factory continually received orders from the Imperial Court.

Gold Medal

The factory was awarded a gold medal for its entries in the first Russian National Exhibition of Manufactured Products in 1829.

The Nikolo-Bachmetievsky factory won the right to the use the National Coat of Arms on its products in 1836. This award was consistently verified by its showings in exhibitions in Moscow in 1839, 1861 and 1865, and once again in Nizhny Novgorod in 1896.

The Nikolo-Bachmetievsky factory was awarded a gold medal at the 1900 World Exposition in Paris.

Gold Medal

The Bachmetievsky factory was nationalized in 1924 and renamed Red Giant. One of the largest government contracts was for the Moscow underground stations.

Despite the new name, the brand name Nikolo-Bachmetievsky factory will always be remembered in the history Russian industry. Bachmetievsky products were considered the benchmark of quality crystal.
