Domestic manufacturers will be able to meet the demand for cassette-type railway bearings, the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade reported.

According to the ministry, this year the production of bearings in the country is projected at the level of 390 thousand units, which is enough to cover domestic demand. For comparison, last year domestic enterprises produced about 350 thousand cassette bearings – this is 31% more compared to 2020. Such indicators made it possible to fully meet the needs of the railway industry when updating and repairing trains, the ministry noted.

In May, Russia bought 100% of the shares in the authorized capital of SKF (the Swedish SKF group of companies), the Ministry of Industry and Trade said. The company will continue to produce cassette bearings as part of the investment project under the new name "Tech-com production", and the company "EPK-brenko" will continue to manufacture bearings under its own trademark.

Now both Tek-com Production and EPK-brenko are planning to expand supplies from China of components that are not produced in Russia. They also intend to test domestic components, including rollers and lubricants.
