Chelyabinsk Forging and Pressing Plant (CHKPZ) will launch the production of cassette bearings for railcars with increased load capacity by 2023, the press service of the Regional Ministry of Industry, New Technologies and Natural Resources reported.

"Until now, only three companies with the participation of Swedish and American companies have produced such bearings in Russia. With their withdrawal from the market, domestic car builders faced a shortage of components. The production of highly demanded products at the Chelyabinsk enterprise will allow them to meet their needs," the report says.

It is noted that the implementation of the project will increase the share of domestic parts and assemblies in railway engineering and ensure the industry's independence from supplies from abroad.

By 2027, the production volume may grow to 2.5 million parts.
