 The area of vineyards in Dagestan may increase by more than 800 hectares

In Dagestan, the area of vineyards is planned to increase by more than 800 hectares in 2022, said the head of the Committee on viticulture and alcohol regulation of the region, Sheriff Kerimkhanov.

"The planned area of vineyards is 878 hectares, the area of grape plantations in the fruiting age is 17,800 hectares. In order to ensure the established performance indicators for the provision of subsidies from the republican budget for the development of viticulture and winemaking, funds in the amount of 519 million rubles are provided, more than twice the amount of funding for 2021," he said.

It is noted that taking into account the laying of new vineyards in 2022, the area of grape plantations can reach 26.6 thousand hectares. Currently, 247 business entities are employed in this industry in the region.

Recall that the gross grape harvest in 2021 amounted to 237.9 thousand tons, which is 12% more than in 2020.
