Domestic kvass and lemonade overtook foreign drinks in sales

Juices, soda and kvass of domestic brands were ahead of foreign drinks in sales at the beginning of June, according to the data of the "Check Index".

The average purchase receipt for these products from June 1 to June 5 this year amounted to 187 rubles, which is 34% higher than a year ago.

"In the top sales of the beginning of June - juices and carbonated drinks, kvass of domestic brands in containers of 2 liters and 0.5 liters. At the same time, in May, as well as last year, carbonated drinks of foreign brands were in the top sales," the press service said.

The average bill for water without gas this year increased by 29% compared to last year and amounted to 87 rubles. The leader of sales among products with a volume of one liter or half a liter was the water of domestic brands.

"The interest in domestic beverages may be associated with an increase in marketing activities of manufacturers who seek to use the current situation in order to expand distribution channels and develop the assortment matrix. The beginning of summer is a particularly effective time to test hypotheses and increase sales," the experts of the Check Index suggested.

Check Index analyzes depersonalized aggregated data of the OFD from more than 1.1 million online sales registers in Russia. The project shows the change in the real spending of Russians on individual goods, categories, retail and service industries.
