Beer Producers Association: The acreage of malting barley in Russia increased by 6.5%

Participants of the Russian Association of Beer Producers in 2022 increased the acreage of malting barley by 6.5% compared to last year - up to 207.1 thousand hectares, the organization said in a statement.

"Malting barley is one of the main ingredients needed for the production of products. Thanks to their own agricultural programs, the companies control the quality of raw materials, minimize the risks of increasing its cost and reducing supplies in the current conditions, and also support hundreds of local farms," said Vyacheslav Mamontov, Executive director of the association.

He added that the members of the association almost completely cover the needs of their own production and grow about half of the barley in the country.

Malting barley is grown by members of the association in Mordovia, Bashkiria and Tatarstan, the Altai Territory, as well as in the Oryol, Voronezh, Lipetsk, Tambov, Penza, Tyumen, Omsk, Novosibirsk, Ulyanovsk, Tula and Yaroslavl regions.

The Association of Beer Producers includes Baltika, Heineken United Breweries and AB InBev Efes.
