Media: the limit of microloans for small and medium-sized businesses can be increased to ₽7 million

The limits of loans for small and medium-sized businesses in microfinance organizations have been proposed to increase from 5 million to 7 million rubles, reports "Kommersant".

Such amendments to the law "On Microfinance Activities and Microfinance Organizations" were recommended to be adopted at a meeting of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market. At the same time, the head of the committee on the eve proposed an increase to 10 million rubles.

According to the Central Bank, in the first quarter of this year, the portfolio of microloans grew to 342 billion rubles. Of these, 18.5% of loans were issued to legal entities and individual entrepreneurs. According to the director of the SRO "MiR" Elena Stratieva, this indicator is below average. Previously, the share of small and medium-sized businesses in the microloan portfolio was at least 25%, while the average loan size was 1.7 million rubles. The rate in microfinance organizations for entrepreneurs can reach 40% per annum.

Igor Alekseev, Senior Director for Bank Ratings at Expert RA, says that it is impossible to do without increasing the limits against the background of new economic and geopolitical realities.

Some interlocutors of the publication note that they are not sure about the growth of real issues in the segment. Moneyman CEO Sergey Vesovchuk emphasizes that the increased limit will contribute to customer demand. However, the question of the level of conversion of demand into real output remains open.
