AI programs in Russia will be able to master at least 35% of all schoolchildren
At least 35% of all schoolchildren will be able to complete training programs on artificial intelligence in the new academic year, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said.
The programs are designed for students in grades 3-11. They will allow children to gain basic and more in-depth knowledge about AI, its tools and applications, as well as decide on the choice of their future profession.
"We are starting to lay the foundations of professional knowledge already at school. It is planned that in the new academic year, at least 35% of all students will be able to master AI training programs. About 70 subjects of the country have already shown interest in them. In addition, professional development of teachers is planned within the framework of the federal project. This year it will be held by more than 15 thousand school teachers," Chernyshenko said.
The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that within the framework of the federal project, this year Russian universities will start accepting students for 83 new master's programs in the field of artificial intelligence.
According to him, the development of master's programs was conducted by leading universities based on the requests and needs of enterprises in various sectors of the economy. Therefore, students will receive exactly the knowledge that will be useful to them in their work.
"This year, more than 2.5 thousand budget places have been allocated in new areas of training. We expect that the demand for them will be high. In addition, it is planned to develop 16 bachelor's degree programs in AI. They will be launched in universities in the 2023/2024 academic year," the Deputy Prime Minister stressed.
The Far Eastern Federal University, Izhevsk State Technical University, National Research Mordovian State University, Grozny State Petroleum Technical University and others will be the first universities to start implementing master's degree programs in the profile of "Artificial Intelligence".
