The average cost of renting a one-room apartment in Moscow decreased by 12%, a two-room apartment - by 20%. According to the results of the study, CIAN analysts came to this conclusion. At the same time, in July, the demand for rent in the capital began to grow, which led to a correction in rates.

The maximum decrease in the cost of rent in the period from January to June 2020 was recorded in the most expensive districts: rent of one—bedroom apartments fell especially noticeably in the Central Administrative District (CAO) of the capital (by 12.7%), and two-bedroom apartments - in the Western AO (-20.2%).

CIAN analysts found out that in July, rental rates for one—room apartments increased in most administrative districts of the capital - the only exception was the Southern Administrative District, where prices remained at the same level.

The CIAN notes that demand began to revive in May. "It was associated with the flow of demand from the purchase segment, where prices continued to rise, and mortgage rates were at a high level (especially in the secondary market). By the end of May, the potential demand was a third higher than in January — April. In June, the indicators were comparable to those in May.
