The fight against harmful emissions will begin in 29 more settlements.

Russia is rapidly continuing an experiment to reduce harmful emissions into the Earth's atmosphere. Recently it became known that 29 more cities have joined the federal project "Clean Air", which is part of the national project "Ecology". Its goal is to halve the amount of harmful substances polluting the atmosphere by 2030, and thanks to a competent approach, it will be possible to improve living conditions in the territory where more than 7 million people live.

About what work has already been done and what remains to be done – in our material.

To achieve all the goals set, it is necessary to modernize industrial enterprises. The regional authorities include both the municipal sector and the transport sector. In the foreseeable future, it is planned to transfer residential buildings from coal or wood-fired heating to electric and gas. The old coal-fired boilers will be closed. An example is Novokuznetsk, located in the Kemerovo region. According to the results of 2021, this city showed the best result in reducing the level of harmful emissions.

The most ambitious projects in the field of environmental improvement are carried out in agglomerations where there is a high population density and, of course, various enterprises. In particular, electric filters have been replaced at the Severstal plant, which not only clean the production from dust, but also reduce its concentration where the emission comes from. On average, during the production of metal structures, it was possible to reduce the level of dust pollution by 30 tons per year.

In the Vologda region, the authorities are gradually updating public transport. The capital of the region has already received four environmentally friendly trams, nine more are expected to be delivered next year.

Thus, the federal project is being implemented consistently, but much remains to be done.
