Flying on the domestic Soyuz is economically more profitable than flying on the NASA Crew Dragon ship

The transport system based on the Russian manned Soyuz MS spacecraft turned out to be more cost-effective than flying on American Crew Dragon or Starliner ships. This became known from the press service of the Agat Organization, the main economic research institute of Roscosmos.

"The cost of launching Starliner, according to official NASA estimates, is $345 million," Agate drew attention, "and Crew Dragon is $210 million. The crew of each ship is four people, so the launch of one astronaut costs $87 million and $53 million, respectively. Starliner can deliver more cargo, and in the future carry up to seven people, so the cost of the "chair" may drop to $ 50 million.

The Institute noted that "Already now the transport system based on the Soyuz MS manned transport vehicle is more economically efficient, and the price for astronauts or space tourists largely depends on additional services and market conditions," the institute noted.

Earlier it became known that the estimated cost of a flight to the Moon on a Russian ship is four times cheaper than on an American one. Agate clarified that such an indicator was achieved due to the effective use of the reserve of Soviet programs and the initial development carried out based on economic considerations.

Also, Roskomos stressed that, according to the design, the cost of launching astronauts on the manned ship "Eagle" after its testing will be further reduced.
