Car sales continued their decline in the summer of 2022. Experts have already begun to forecast total losses for the current year. As auto expert Igor Mozharetto told the Made in Russia project, the total market losses for the whole year will exceed the 50 percent mark.

"Our entire car market is now in a very difficult situation, it will fall by 60 percent this year compared to last year, and our monthly sales have fallen by almost 80 percent," Igor Mozharetto said.

He noted that such low indicators have not been recorded in the entire history of statistics — since 2008, and until now the result of quarantine April 2020 was considered the worst.

Recall that such a drop was predictable. The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov spoke in the State Duma in connection with the discussion of his appointment to the post of deputy Prime Minister of the government. During his speech, he said that by the end of 2022, the volume of production and sales of passenger cars in Russia will be reduced by 50%. Also, according to his expectations, in 2022, manufacturing production will decrease by 6%, despite significant growth in the defense industry.
