Peskov: dialogue is needed to solve the problem of transit to Kaliningrad via Lithuania

29

The issue of resuming full-fledged transit of goods to Kaliningrad via Lithuania should be resolved through dialogue. If this method does not prove to be effective, Russia will take retaliatory measures to the difficulties created by it. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.

The Kremlin representative, in an interview with journalists, suggested that the parties "probably have mechanisms for solving" the current situation. In particular, Peskov drew attention to the possibility and need to raise the issue of transit within the framework of an already established dialogue, and then try to solve it.

Thus, Peskov answered the question about the termination of the Lithuanian "Shauliai Bank" with Russia. The credit and financial organization was an intermediary for the payment of railway transit to the Kaliningrad region.

"If we come across a blank wall of misunderstanding, then it will be a problem that will require other measures," Peskov said.

Recall that on July 26, the first batch of cement was delivered to the Kaliningrad region by rail after the resumption of transit through Lithuania. In total, 60 wagons with construction material arrived in the region.
