Russia's trade surplus may amount to $299.6 billion due to the growth of exports and a decrease in imports. In 2024-2025, the surplus is expected to decrease below the level of 2021. This is stated in the draft forecast of the socio-economic development of the Russian Federation until 2025 published by the Ministry of Economic Development.According to TASS, the ministry expects to increase exports to $585.3 billion, which is $91.5 billion more than in 2021.
At the same time, the volume of imports may decrease to $285.7 billion (-$18.3 billion).
According to a source familiar with the discussion of the macro forecast, according to the results of the first half of the year, the trade balance was "extremely high". In the near future, a gradual reduction of this indicator is expected, including due to the restoration of imports.
"Logistics for intermediate and investment is objectively more complicated than for consumer. Therefore, such an outstripping growth in consumer growth is understandable and understandable," the source said.
