Wildberries warned of an increase in fraud cases on marketplaces
Wildberries notes an increase in fraud cases in the Internet space. The most common scheme was the creation of fake product cards on marketplaces. This was told in the press service of the company.
It is reported that after receiving the order from the buyer, the "seller" asks to contact him via WhatsApp, sends him a link to third-party payment services through which he asks to transfer money to him. After receiving them, the person "disappears", leaving the buyer without money and goods."The online platform asks buyers to pay for orders only through the internal payment system when forming an order or at the time of its receipt at the point of issue at the post-payment.
In case of suspicious activity, we urge buyers to immediately contact the support service, as well as contact law enforcement agencies," the release says.
According to the company's press service, Wildberries continues to apply measures to protect buyers and entrepreneurs in the face of increasing cybercrime:
- 24/7 monitoring of product cards using artificial intelligence technologies and support specialists
- Blocking fraudulent personal accounts of "sellers"
To prevent fraudulent registrations, Wildberries further increases the transparency of operations on the online platform. Now new sellers must undergo additional identification through online banking services when registering (the service is provided free of charge), and in the future - through Public Services. This will eliminate the creation of fraudulent personal accounts.
