The director of the Russian National Orchestra spoke about the decision not to renew the contract with Mikhail Pletnev. This is what Izvestia writes about.

Mikhail Pletnev is a People's Artist of Russia, a famous pianist and conductor. He founded the orchestra in 1990. To this day, he has been its artistic director.

Shortly before that, he announced that he was creating a new band called "Rachmaninoff International Orchestra". And Pletnev himself, together with the team, planned to move to Croatia. Before that, he lived mainly in Switzerland.

As the director of the Russian National Orchestra explained, despite the suspicions of many, the decision not to renew the contract with the artistic director is not related to these events.

"This is an unforeseen coincidence. Even if we hadn't read about it online or it wouldn't have happened in principle, the fact of parting with Mikhail Vasilyevich, unfortunately, would have been. Mikhail Vasilyevich has not been in the country since the end of 2020, the communication of the team with him is difficult, meetings with him are almost impossible," the publication quotes the words of director Irina Shigoreva.
