A large-scale construction of a multifunctional sports complex "Kuzbass Arena" has been completed in Kemerovo. It was supposed to be one of the venues for the Volleyball World Championship in 2022. TASS writes about this.
At the final stage, the facility was inspected by the assistant to the President of the country Igor Levitin and the Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin.
"The construction took 1 year and 8 months. At the same time, the embankment was raised by eight meters, all communications were started, roads were built. In the Kuzbass Arena, you can practice 24 sports, each with its own gym, locker rooms. There is also a 50-meter Olympic swimming pool, a reverse wave pool for surfing training, the largest wind tunnel in Europe and the CIS, one of the largest halls for mountaineering and even a table tennis hall for 21 tables," the governor of the region Sergey Tsivilev reported.
"Kuzbass Arena" began to be built in 2020, but very quickly the work was suspended due to difficulties with financing. As a result, the complex cost almost 9.5 billion rubles. According to Tsivilev, all the money is from the regional budget.
