At the supervisory board of the Advanced Special Economic Zone (ASEZ) Zabaykalye, chaired by the Governor of the Trans-Baikal region Alexander Osipov with the participation of the First Deputy Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and Arctic Sergey Tyrtsev, General Director of Corporation for the Development of the Far East Dmitry Tetenkin and representatives of regional and federal authorities, the issues of implementation of potential investment projects were discussed online.

During the meeting, attention was paid to the discussion of current issues of functioning of the territory of the created last summer ASEZ Zabaykalye.

Vyacheslav Kostin, Director of the managing company of ASEZ Zabaykalye (a subsidiary of Far East Development Corporation JSC), informed about the residents' activities and the progress of implementation of the announced investment projects. Special attention was paid to solving problems faced by residents due to the spread of new coronavirus COVID-19.

Within the framework of the main report, the head of the management company spoke about potential investment projects, implementation of which is possible in connection with the forthcoming expansion of the borders of ASEZ Zabaykalye by including 21 land plots in Kalgan, Kalar, Trans-Baikal regions and the city of Chita.

Five new companies have announced their intention to obtain the resident status of the territory of advanced development. Potential investors are ready to invest more than 14 billion rubles in significant industries of the region - industry, mining, as well as transport and logistics. At the same time about 1,200 jobs are planned to be created for the residents of the republic, said Vyacheslav Kostin.

Russian company TorMet plans to establish in Zabaykalsky Krai production of used rails without melting. MT Zabaikalsk expects to equip a universal complex of transport infrastructure for transshipment and storage of liquefied natural gas and other cargo in Zabaikalsk settlement. Chernovskiy Ovoshchevod intends to establish a wholesale and logistics center in Chita to address the issue of agricultural products procurement and sales. Two more potential investors, Wismut and Tomsk Investment Company, which claim to expand the borders of ASEZ Zabaykalye, are aimed at the development of Golevskoye and Iron Ridge deposits.

According to Dmitry Tetenkin, General Director of the Far East Development Corporation, the emergence of new investors is an example of effective cooperation with the Government of the Zabaykalsky Krai and development institutions. We expected to increase the number of residents to 15 this year. This plan has already been practically implemented. As a result, the volume of declared investments by the top ten residents should amount to about 196 billion rubles, and up to 9,000 local residents will have an employment opportunity.
