Since late February, there has been a shortage of medical masks in pharmacies across the country. Their production has become more visible, profitable and necessary. The regions are coping with this task in different ways. In March, in Ufa, at the state-owned Bashkir Art and Crafts Aghidel was set up a production of reusable medical tissue masks with total production volume up to 10 thousand units per day.
In Udmurtia the local manufacturer Locomotive became the largest medical masks producer, the company initially carried out the social mission by hiring disabled people to produce medical consumables, and during the pandemic increased the production volumes of medical masks up to 150 thousand pcs per day (the enterprise also produces disposable protective clothing for Infectious Disease). In both cases, the production of masks involves manual labor.
To cover the needs in medical mask supply demand due to COVID-19 the first medical masks production line was produced by KrasnodarStankoBuilder with the help of regional machine-building enterprises and support from the regional Industrial Policy Department. Previously, the project was supported by Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov. The line has an ultrasonic unit for soldering loops and its capacity is enough to produce 1 mask per second. The new line will produce up to 75,000 pcs per day. ,
The additional production lines are to be opened later this year. KrasnodarStankoStroitel is ready to produce up to three machines per month, as well as to develop a line with higher production rate. However, so far there is no information about the estimated cost of production.
