In Russia, GOST has been approved for electric scooters and monowheels
The approved new GOST R 70514-2022 for Russian and foreign manufacturers of electronic means of individual mobility (ESIM) will enter into force on February 1, 2023, Rosstandart told Izvestia.
The requirements of the document will not be mandatory, but companies that comply with them will be able to indicate that the products comply with the standard.
ESIM refers to electric scooters, monowheels and gyroscuters.
"GOST introduces requirements for a maximum speed limit of 25 km/ h with the ability to determine the location of the ESIM, which will significantly increase the safety of citizens. The standard is harmonized with the international standard EN 17128-2020," said Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov.
GOST will also provide an automatic deceleration function in parks, it follows from the document. The standard prescribes that the electric scooter, as well as batteries or accumulators, must be designed and constructed in such a way as to exclude any risk of fire and mechanical damage.
