Cheese factory in Kostroma region optimized production and developed its raw material base

Kostroma cheese dairy Volzhanka has expanded its own production through the purchase of a former factory building which has already started to be reconstructed. This was reported by the regional department of agro-industrial complex.

Now the producer produces several types of cheese, including mozzarella and ricotta, which are represented on the shelves of shops in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl and Kostroma regions.

According to the owners of the company, the pandemic has not affected their operations. At the moment the Camembert shop is being reconstructed. This will allow to increase the production volume of this cheese twice.

A year ago the cheese factory got its own raw milk base. For this purpose the building of one enterprise was bought, where at that time 100 animals were kept. Today that number is almost five times higher, which allows producing 5 tons of milk daily. In the future, after the reconstruction is completed, it is expected to grow to 1.5 thousand animals.

According to Sergei Sitnikov, the regional head, the firm's employees now earn 49 thousand roubles.

The regional authorities regularly provide assistance to the cheese factory, and since 2014 it has amounted to about 10 million rubles. As Sitnikov stressed, the regional authorities are ready to support the enterprise in the future as well.
