Vostochny Port increased coal shipments by 6%

Vostochny Port has increased coal shipments by 6% in the first six months of this year.

According to the Administration of the Sea Ports of Primorsk Territory and Eastern Arctic, in the first six months of the year the company delivered almost 14 million tons of coal products outside the country, which is about 1 million tons higher compared to last year's figures for the same period.

Vostochny Port is now the largest coal port terminal in our country. The increase in the facility's cargo handling is due to the launch of new production facilities. Thus, after the launch of the third stage of the specialized coal complex, the terminal's throughput capacity has increased to 50-55 million tons per year as a whole.

Apart from that, in the first half of the year the port workers handled 275 vessels of different tonnage, among them 17 bulk carriers of Capesize standard, or in other words with deadweight over 100 thousand tons.

Coal was shipped using more than 192 thousand units of rolling stock, of which almost 95 thousand units are innovative gondola cars capable of carrying up to 79 tons instead of 69 tons in conventional gondola cars.

The main customers of this coal were the countries of Asian region, viz: Japan (29.5%), Korea (17.9%), Taiwan (15.4%), India (13.2%), Vietnam (9.6%), China (8.2%) and Malaysia (6.1%).
