For the first time the genome was decoded using Russian equipment

State tests on genome decoding using mass parallel sequencing technology took place in Russia. For the first time, such testing was performed using a hardware and software complex of domestic production with the use of reagents and consumables.

DNA sequence decoding and assembly took place at the D. I. Mendeleev All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Metrology. D.I. Mendeleyev Institute of Metrology, which is a part of Rosstandart.

Equipment for the experiments created the Institute of Analytical Instrumentation of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and chemical reagents manufactured by the Moscow research and production organization Syntol.

According to the scientists, before such tests it was necessary to use imported equipment. The results of the tests confirmed the quality of the high-tech domestic analogues. Such products are expected to make sequencing technologies more affordable and have a positive effect on the development of medical and epidemiological studies.

According to the head of the Institute Anton Pronin, the specialists will soon test the equipment designed to decode the genomes of microorganisms pathogenic to humans.
