Russian spacecraft set a record

Russian transport cargo ship Progress MS-15 reached the International Space Station (ISS) from Earth in record time.

According to the press service of Roscosmos, the flight time was 3 hours 18 minutes and 31 seconds.

It is worth noting that the previous record was set by Progress MS-14. Then it took 3 hours 20 minutes and 15 seconds to fly.

On Thursday, "Progress MS-15" was launched from Baikonur by launch vehicle "Soyuz-2.1a" and docked to the ISS in automatic mode. The flight could be monitored on the website of the space agency.

The flight was controlled by experts on Earth from the Mission Control Center, while from space it was watched by crew members of the station Anatoli Ivanishin and Ivan Wagner.

Thus, during docking the cosmonauts suggested the Center staff to switch to teleoperator control mode due to the fact that the target started to deviate slightly to the right. However, eventually this did not have to be done.

The spacecraft has provided the ISS with various cargoes weighing 2.6 tons, including water tanks, oxygen tanks, refueling system fuel, clothing and food.

Recall that the rocket "Soyuz-2.1a" was launched from the launch pad "Vostok" on Thursday evening. On the eve, Roscosmos director general Dmitry Rogozin ruled out the postponement of two launches in July due to the situation due to the coronavirus.

It was noted that the launch site for space launches is operating normally, despite the fact that the city itself is under reinforcement.

On Thursday, the media also reported that China launched a probe that is intended to explore Mars. The launch took place at the Wenchang Cosmodrome in Hainan province. The spacecraft is scheduled to reach Mars next winter.
