Road standards for northern latitudes and the Arctic approved in Russia

Rosstandart has signed an order approving the national GOST standard for roads and ice crossings.

The new document prescribes the rules for the construction of winter roads and road crossings in the North and Polar regions of the country, where persistent low temperatures prevail. The standard was created in the framework of the national project on the safe and quality roads in the country. During its development the foundations of the state policy of Russia in the Arctic until 2035 were taken into account.

The development of road communication in the Far North is one of the main objectives in the development of the country. At the moment, ice and snow roads are used for driving in the northern regions, especially where there is no other road infrastructure. Traditionally, winter roads are used at the beginning of December, and traffic closes in mid-April.

The deputy head of Rosstandart, Anton Shalaev, notes that the standards developed, including for the Arctic roads, will significantly accelerate the introduction of advanced technology in these areas.

Earlier it became known that the Chukotka enterprises will receive a subsidy for purchase and processing of wild-growing products. The reimbursement amount will be up to 250 rubles for each kilogram of products purchased.

Companies can apply for such financial support till the end of November. To qualify, the company must be able to process purchased mushrooms and berries, or sell them to caterers, as well as to health care and educational institutions.
