The Saturn plant in Krasnodar has launched a line where batteries will now be produced using a special technology that will increase quality and reduce production costs.

This year, the company set up an area to produce lithium-ion batteries and rechargeable batteries using a new technology. Due to this technology the specific capacity characteristics of the products have been increased and the harmfulness of the production has been reduced, said Alexei Petrov, the chief technologist in the direction of batteries at "Saturn".

The main consumer of such accumulators will be aviation enterprises. The new line will produce up to 2 megawatts per year.

As Oleg Plankevich, head of the enterprise, specified that the produced batteries have a wide range of applications. Also, according to him, now they are also producing batteries, similar in type, size and capacity to those installed by Tesla in their cars.

In addition, Saturn has already had designs for waterborne vehicles as well, the CEO added.

100 million rubles from different sources were allocated for creation of new line. On the whole, the plant received about 190 million rubles for development.
